NEWS REPORTER (voiceover)
In the region this morning, the hunt to find missing teenager Hayley Stewart continues. The teenager, who was reported missing by her parents early Saturday morning after failing to return from a house party the previous night. Police are urging anyone with information of her whereabouts to come forward.

INT. - GARAGE - MORNING

HAYLEY is sitting tied to a chair in the middle of the room. She is gagged. She looks around the room. Disorientated. She is unaware of how she got where she is. The garage door opens and OLIVER steps inside the room. He closes the door and walks to HAYLEY, removing the cloth from her mouth.

HAYLEY (nervously)
Where am I?

OLIVER
They’re looking for you. The police. Bet you like the attention, don’t you?

HAYLEY
(stutters) I...

OLIVER
Give it a few days, then they’ll forget about you.

INT. – DINING ROOM – MORNING

OLIVER, MAX and LEWIS are sitting quietly at the table. JOSEPH is standing on the other side of the room, looking at a painting.

LEWIS
What do we do now?

OLIVER
We wait.

LEWIS
Wait for what? There's nothing to wait for. We're just sitting here.

JOSEPH
(faces OLIVER) We should give her food. She’s not gonna last long if we don’t look after her.

OLIVER nods to JOSEPH, who walks out of the room.

MAX
My parents think I’m round a mate’s. If this takes too long, they’re gonna start asking questions.

OLIVER
You were given the choice. If you didn’t want to do this, you should’ve backed out when you had the chance.

INT. – GARAGE – MORNING

HAYLEY is sitting tied to a chair in the middle of the room. She is gagged. JOSEPH places a plate of biscuits on top of the freezer. He has a glass of water in his hands. He removes the cloth from HAYLEY’S mouth.

JOSEPH
Drink up.

JOSEPH helps HAYLEY to drink from the glass. He then puts the glass on top of the freezer.

HAYLEY
Why are you doing this to me?

JOSEPH
Trust me. I didn’t have a choice.

JOSEPH picks up the plate of biscuits.

HAYLEY
You never told me your name.

JOSEPH
Joseph. Or Joe. You can call me whatever.

JOSEPH helps HAYLEY to eat a biscuit.

HAYLEY
What’s going to happen to me?

EXT. – BACK GARDEN – MORNING

JOSEPH sits on a bench and sighs. Why did he have to be stupid enough to get involved with this? OLIVER sits next to JOSEPH. He has a packet of cigarettes in his hands.

OLIVER
You’re not having second thoughts, are ya?

JOSEPH
No.

OLIVER
(taps JOSEPH on the shoulder) Good man.

JOSEPH gets to his feet and walks to the back door. OLIVER also gets to his feet.

OLIVER (continued)
Joseph.

JOSEPH turns back to face OLIVER, who holds his hand out for JOSEPH’S phone.

JOSEPH
Come on.

OLIVER
Just to make sure.

JOSEPH reluctantly brings out his phone and hands it to OLIVER. He opens the back door and steps inside the bungalow. OLIVER looks at JOSEPH’S phone.

INT. – BATHROOM – AFTERNOON

The bathroom door opens and MAX walks inside the room. He closes the door. He brings out his phone and scrolls through his contacts until he reaches his MUM’S number. He rings it. She answers the phone.

Hey, Mum. (smiles) I’m fine, thanks. How are you? That’s good. Nah. Not too much really, just chillaxin’. Yeah, okay. I’ll speak to you later. Bye.

MAX finishes the call. He holds the phone in his hands.

INT. – BEDROOM 1 – AFTERNOON

JOSEPH is on his knees, searching through a drawer that he has in front of him. It is full of paperwork. JOSEPH brings out a receipt for two plane tickets. The bedroom door opens and MAX steps inside the room. He closes the door.

JOSEPH
(faces MAX) Ollie said his uncle owns this bungalow, didn’t he?

MAX
Yeah.

JOSEPH
Take a look at this.

JOSEPH gets to his feet and hands the receipt to MAX, who looks at it.

JOSEPH (continued)
Ollie's surname is Grace and the surname of the person who brought the tickets are…

MAX
Hart.

JOSEPH
Exactly. This means that the cottage doesn't belong to his uncle.

MAX
That doesn't mean anything.

JOSEPH
Think this through a minute. Would you bring a girl that you've just kidnapped to your uncle's house?

MAX
The date on the receipt says that they're flying back in two days.

That means Ollie's only got two days to do what he wants.

MAX
Fuck. I'm so stupid. Why did I have to get caught up in this?

JOSEPH watches MAX as he stands with his back against the door. He sighs.

INT. – DINING ROOM – EVENING

OLIVER and LEWIS are sitting at the table, each drinking from a can of beer. JOSEPH and MAX are sitting on the settee. The room is silent.

OLIVER
Hey, Joseph.

JOSEPH and MAX look across to OLIVER.

OLIVER (continued)
Come up here a sec.

JOSEPH gets to his feet and walks to OLIVER, who takes a sip of beer.

JOSEPH
What do you want?

OLIVER
I’m only guessing, but since you spend so much time with Hayley that you’re starting to fall for her.

JOSEPH
Don’t be stupid.

OLIVER
(gets to his feet) Let’s go. All of you.

Cut to
INT. – GARAGE – EVENING

HAYLEY is sitting tied to a chair in the middle of the room. She is gagged. The garage door opens and OLIVER walks inside the room. He is followed by JOSEPH, MAX and LEWIS. LEWIS closes the garage door. OLIVER removes the cloth from HAYLEY’S mouth. OLIVER brings out a knife and holds it against HAYLEY’S throat.

Say it to her face. Tell her you’re interested.

JOSEPH
Ollie.

OLIVER
I said tell her!

JOSEPH looks across to HAYLEY.

LEWIS
He won’t say anything. He doesn’t have it in him.

MAX
(faces OLIVER) Don’t make him do this.

OLIVER
Who gave you permission to talk?

JOSEPH
I like you.

OLIVER
Good. Now show her how much you like her. (smiles) Take off your clothes.

JOSEPH does not respond. OLIVER walks to JOSEPH and holds the knife against his throat.

OLIVER (whispering)
Don’t start going back on our deal now.

JOSEPH takes his t-shirt off and throws it onto the floor.

MAX
This is sick.

OLIVER’S phone rings. OLIVER brings out his phone. He looks to see who the caller is, then faces LEWIS.

OLIVER
Let’s go.

OLIVER and LEWIS walk out of the garage. MAX looks to JOSEPH, then also walks out. JOSEPH looks to HAYLEY.

JOSEPH
I’m sorry.

Why do you let them do this to you?

JOSEPH picks up his t-shirt from off the floor. He puts the cloth around HAYLEY’S mouth. He turns and walks to the door. He stops, turning back to face HAYLEY.

JOSEPH
I meant what I said. I do like you.

INT. – BEDROOM 2 – EVENING

OLIVER is sitting on the edge of the bed. He has a photo of his younger brother in his hands, which he is staring at. He gently runs his thumb across his brother’s face. There is a knock on the door. OLIVER puts the photo away as the door opens and LEWIS steps inside the room. He closes the door.

LEWIS
We shouldn’t have let them get involved.

OLIVER
I know. I fucked up.

LEWIS
What do we do about them?

INT. – OUTSIDE BEDROOM 2 – EVENING

MAX stands outside the room, listening to OLIVER and LEWIS’S conversation.

INT. – BEDROOM 2 – EVENING

OLIVER is sitting on the edge of the bed, talking to LEWIS, who is standing in front of him.

OLIVER
Can I trust you?

LEWIS nods. OLIVER reaches underneath the pillow and brings out a gun. He holds it in his hands.

JOSEPH is sitting on the floor with his back against the wall. MAX walks inside the room. He paces up and down the room as he talks to JOSEPH.

MAX (nervously)
They’re going to kill her. They have a gun.

JOSEPH
(gets to his feet) We need to get her out of here. You with me?

MAX sighs.

Cut to
INT. – GARAGE – EVENING

HAYLEY is sitting tied to a chair in the middle of the room. She is gagged. The garage door opens and JOSEPH and MAX hurry inside the room. They run to HAYLEY and begin untying her.

JOSEPH
We’re getting you out of here.

JOSEPH removes the cloth from HAYLEY’S mouth.

HAYLEY
Thank you.

HAYLEY is relieved to be free. JOSEPH and MAX help HAYLEY to her feet and walk her to the door.

Cut to
INT. – DINING ROOM – EVENING

The back door opens and JOSEPH, HAYLEY and MAX creep inside the room. MAX closes the door. They are surprised to see OLIVER and LEWIS emerge inside the room. OLIVER has the gun in his hands.

OLIVER
And where do you think you’re taking her?

JOSEPH
This has to stop, Ollie. Things have gone too far.

OLIVER
Do you even know what she did? Do any of you have a fucking clue?!

OLIVER (continued)
She killed my brother. He’s dead because of that bitch!

JOSEPH faces HAYLEY. Shocked by the revelation.

JOSEPH
How did it happen?

HAYLEY
It was an accident. I swear.

JOSEPH
You didn’t answer the question.

OLIVER
I have to do this.

OLIVER aims the gun at HAYLEY.

MAX
(steps forward) Ollie. Don’t be stupid. Could you really kill someone?

OLIVER
You don’t think I have the guts?

JOSEPH
Max.

MAX
Shoot me. Go on!

EXT. – BACK GARDEN – EVENING

There is a mid-shot of the back of the bungalow. A gunshot can be heard from inside the dining room.

Cut to
INT. – DINING ROOM – EVENING

JOSEPH and HAYLEY are standing in shock after witnessing MAX being shot. JOSEPH looks to OLIVER and LEWIS, who are standing in the same places as before.

JOSEPH
You killed him.

He didn’t think I’d do it.

JOSEPH
Well now you’ve fucked it up! The whole thing’s gone to shit because of him.

LEWIS
Don’t listen to him.

JOSEPH
Your fingerprints are on the gun.

OLIVER (shocked)
What have I done?!

LEWIS
You’ve got this far, man. Don’t back out now.

OLIVER
(faces LEWIS) What? So you can watch me go down?

LEWIS
I’m your mate, Ollie. I wouldn’t do that.

OLIVER
You’re just as bad as the rest of them.

HAYLEY holds onto JOSEPH as OLIVER shoots LEWIS. OLIVER, in shock, sits on the floor with his back against the wall. JOSEPH and HAYLEY walk slowly to the door.

OLIVER (muttering)
Joseph.

JOSEPH
(faces HAYLEY) Wait for me in the kitchen.

HAYLEY
Okay.

HAYLEY walks out of the room. JOSEPH closes the door, then faces OLIVER, who is staring at the gun.

OLIVER
She was my brother’s babysitter. One day. She took him down the park. He ran off. Into the road. (pauses) I miss him so much. His smile.

INT. – HALLWAY – EVENING

A gunshot can be heard from inside the dining room. The dining room door opens and JOSEPH emerges from it. He walks across the hallway, towards the kitchen.

INT. – KITCHEN – EVENING

JOSEPH walks inside the room. He sees HAYLEY standing with her back to him. HAYLEY turns around and JOSEPH sees that she has a dagger in her hands.

JOSEPH
Hayley. What’re you doing?

JOSEPH yells as HAYLEY stabs him repeatedly.
